During the trilogy, there were tons of real-life elements and names that were used in the made up world and there were some references as well as using real already named chemicals from the real world. Down below, you can find out where the inspirations came out!
Fiction
The world itself: Iron City.
The Great Tower
Argon Chemicals

Clarity Street: a fictional street neighborhood
Wilhelm Bohr: this is also a fictional person but a real one as well. However, the name, Wilhelm, is made up.
Waif Ever is what the Commissioner had used to call the case as. It is also an anagram of 'Fire Wave'.
Blytheland Bridge is a fictional bridge.
Magnum Chemical Factory is a fictional that is a huge factory that deals with all of the important compounds, converting certain materials.
Niton Chemical Factory is another fictional Chemical Factory.
Mogronus is a fictional universe from where Opsidia and the organization is from. However, it is destroyed.
Amatis is a fictional prison where entities didn't make the creation stage. Once the beings were thrown in there, they were left to die.

Real
Despite Iron City being a fictional place, it is based off Toronto but just slightly more on the futuristic side. This is also where the 'Great Tower' comes in. The tower itself is based on the CN Tower but I've included my own ghost stories of the 'Great Tower'.
Argon Chemicals is totally a fictional place but Argon itself is actually an element in the real world
Three interlocked triangles is actually a real thing. The term is called 'valknut' and it is found in Norse mythology. It's connected with the dead and with Odin, the god of war and dead. 'Valknut' means 'knot of slain warriors'.
Obsidian played a huge role in the story especially for Opsidia as those were her powers. Obsidian is a igneous rock and it is also known as 'volcanic glass'. Obsidian is also made up of SiO2 which is Silicon Dioxide and it is an oxide.
The Museum is based off Royal Ontario Museum that is made out of aluminum with glass structure which is in Toronto, Ontario.
Wilhelm Bohr: Bohr, also known as Niels Bohr, was a physicist who did an experiment based on atom structure and quantum theory.
Opsidia is actually a real name. Opsidia was a plebeian member in Rome.
Liquid Nitrogen is actually very, very cold! The temperature is -320.44 Fahrenheit! That's cold!

Weapons
Rotating Spears is one of Aiyana's weapons. Rotating Spears are also real weapons.
The Mechanical Gadgets is what Aiyana uses mainly for transportation, to get around the city quicker.
